I’m excited to bring you something a little different from most of the posts on this blog—but definitely, still in keeping with the cleansing your environment of mold overall subject matter. So, today I’m posting my interview with PURE CEO, Brain Brault.

PURE is a company focused on safe, friendly indoor environments for allergy sufferers. They offer everything from air purifiers, and allergy-friendly pillow and mattress encasements, to whole-room purification and cleaning solutions for hotel rooms. The company is even trying to expand its reach to schools, retail and corporate environments—in short, anywhere people are indoors for extended periods of time, where their allergies, or chemical sensitivities can get the best of them.

Solving Your Mold Problems: Reader Q&A

Hi!

Today, I am excited to bring you a new sort of post—well, it’s actually more of a Q&A exchange, where a reader of the blog wrote in to ask me a specific “how to clean for mold” question, and I wrote back to impart my best advice. I actually hope that this exchange will spur more of you on to write to me with this sort of inquiry. If I have learned anything in this time of starting and maintaining this blog, it’s that my passion really lies in helping people, and feeling like I am bringing some positive everyday wisdom to the beast that is mold—especially for those of us who are allergic to it. Maybe this sort of exchange can become a regular feature on the blog, if there is enough interest.

So, back to the Q&A:

The lovely Erin Porter, you may remember her from my previous post How to Eat, Pray, and Get Well, wrote to me to ask about a pesky mold problem underneath some wood floorboards in her home. Erin, as you may recall, has had her own share of mold-related sinusitis and struggled for years and years, even undergoing multiple sinus surgeries and countless rounds of antibiotics, before finally finding a doctor who focused on the environmental piece of her illness. (She has her own blog full of beautiful food and photographs about her wellness journey and newfound passion for nutrition and cooking at E atPrayGetWell.com).

Black Mold Exposure–The Movie

Hi!

Sometimes, I need to get away from the day-to-day cleaning for bit, in order to learn more, and to connect with others trying to educate about indoor air quality and mold. The more knowledge I can gain, the easier it is to navigate and find healthcare and viable solutions for me and my family. So, today, I’m excited to bring you an inside look into the 2009 documentary film, Black Mold Exposure. (Click HERE to view a preview and to rent or purchase the movie on Vimeo—Its only $2.99 to rent it and so worth it.) The movie was made 7 years ago, but its relevance and inside look at the human body’s response to toxic mold exposure stands the test of time. Watching the movie, I was actually surprised by how little things have changed, in terms of research and in-roads in treating mold illness. It illustrates and explains the isolation and debilitating effects of mold exposure in a way that anyone, even naysayers, can appreciate and understand. In my opinion, that is why this movie is so powerful.

DIY Home Testing and Cleaning—Before Getting a Professional Quote AND Before Panic Sets In

Hi, Friends! Today, I have a very exciting post to share with you. It comes to me from a reader of the blog. He encountered a mold problem in a friend’s home and decided to help her do something about it. He employed his OCD tendencies–you see, sometimes they actually help you–the science of mold, some inexpensive (although some of the dehumidifiers can get up there in price) industry-standard equipment, and some How To Clean for Mold-reader know-how, and conquered the project himself. I can’t say that I would recommend embarking upon such a feat without the proper training and proficiency, but he seems to have made some really useful inroads in cleaning for mold, and has some resourceful methods to share.

So…here is his story.
